Dr. Chunxiao Liu talks about prostatic enucleation with Laser Multidiode ™ SST200 at the EAU17 congress

Dr. Chunxiao Liu, chief and supervisor of the Urology Department of Zhujiang Hospital in Guangzhou, (China), highlighted the advantages of diode laser prostatic enucleation versus bipolar surgical technique, in a presentation at the European Association of Urology congress (EAU17), held in mid-March in London.

During his speech, Dr. Liu talked about the 12-month results of a medical study performed at Zhujiang Hospital with patients treated for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), through TUAERP. The laser used was INTERmedic’s Multidiode ™ SST 200, a 980nm diode laser. According to their experience, this technique together with the use of the diode laser proves to be comparable to TURP, with a lower post-operative period and less risk of urinary tract symptoms.

Dr. Liu is one of the most internationally renowned Chinese urologists and “the best enucleator ever seen,” according to Dr. T.R.W. Hermann. He is a regular speaker at international urology conferences such as the EAU Congress, which this year brought together more than 1,400 speakers from around the world and about 10,000 urologists from more than 100 countries.

INTERmedic’s laser solution for BPH

The EAU17 congress was the framework for the international presentation of Multidiode ™ SST 200, INTERmedic’s laser solution for urology. This 980nm diode allows to treat BPH by means of vaporization or enucleation.

The main advantages of this laser technology are its great coagulation power, its excellent hemostatic capacity that improves visibility during surgery, an easy learning curve and the reduction of the postoperative, with the consequent reduction of hospitalization costs.

Multidiode ™ SST 200 is also available in the Duo version, with a more modern design, touch screen and with the option of working with two different wavelengths of laser in a single device –980nm and 1470nm– to maximize the effectiveness of the surgical procedures.
